The Lexicon of Sustainability
Know Your Food is a short film series created and produced for PBS. It introduces consumers to key terms and principles that can help them make more informed decisions about the food they eat.
About The Project
By the end of the 20th century, nearly 80 percent of Americans lived in urban areas. And they no longer knew who grew their food. Then something happened. Across America, an urban farming movement began. Whether it’s on city rooftops, beside freeway off-ramps, in vacant lots, and even in front yards, when people like Novella Carpenter in Oakland, California grow food in cities it reconnects them to where their food comes from.
